Zimbabwe Tour – August 2018

“We used Specialist Safaris to organise a trip around Zimbabwe for myself and my son and his wife. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Beth was highly responsive to all my queries and went the extra mile in answering all my questions and concerns as it is difficult from far away to get a clear picture of the situation in Zimbabwe. She worked with me organising a fantastic tour of the country booking excellent accommodation everywhere. We travelled to the Eastern Highlands staying in Inyanga, then to Chilo Gorge which she recommended to us and was the highlight of our stay. We travelled then to Great Zimbabwe and onto Bulawayo and the Matopos Hills. From there we travelled to Hwange and the Victoria Falls. She liaised on our behalf with a car hire company Hilton Transfers who supplied the 4×4 we needed. Beth checked in with us at each destination and gave us local information eg where the best places were to eat or buy fresh food and we felt safe and contained by her being there for us should we need her. When we did encounter some inevitable problems eg with the car and some medical issues, she was quick to respond and sort them out with us. She went way beyond the extra mile. Her husband Mark and herself even met us in Inyanga to show us around the best local walks and to our great surprise and delight she arranged for a birthday cake to be delivered to our hotel in Inyanga where we were celebrating my son’s birthday. This is way more than one could expect from a travel agent.  Zimbabwe is very very costly but it was worth paying for the service we got and the costs quoted by Specialist Safaris were the actual costs of the lodges etc.  There was a great difficulty paying from abroad for the trip owing to the parlous state of the Zimbabwe banking system but again Beth found a way around this for us.
